Waynetown - William J. Powers, 78, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday at his home 3 miles north of Waynetown. He had been ill 9 weeks and had suffered a stroke last Friday morning. Mr. Powers was born in the Ingersoll neighborhood, 4 miles SW of Waynetown, April 12, 1872, the son of John and Mary Harper Powers. He was married Oct 31, 1898 to Myrtle E. Voorhees, who survives. He had spent his entire life in this community and a farmer many years. Survivors in addition to the widow, include a son, Dale Powers, Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Leon Fetterly, Chicago, Ill; a sister, Mrs. Anna McSweeney, C'ville; two granddaughters; two great granddaughters. Funeral servies will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grenard & Servies in Waynetown by Rev. John Servies. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home.
